The Generated data target is used to import data evenly and in parallel across all your Xcalar cluster cores. It is typically used to generate synthetic data and hence the name Generated data target. Apart from generating the data, it is extremely useful when you are importing only one huge file with millions of rows of data. Generally, importing one huge file takes a long time because only one core can read it. However, Generated data target allows all cores to read different parts of the file in parallel, thereby speeding up the import process and eliminating the skew.
