Demand paging (also known as serialization/deserialization) is the process of moving data between main memory and storage, when there is insufficient memory to keep all datasets resident in memory. Xcalar transparently utilizes the entire available memory hierarchy.
Note that demand paging is only used during execution of a batch dataflow algorithm in Operational Mode. Xcalar optimizes the algorithm end-to-end and can make efficient decisions about demand paging.

The only user tunable parameter related to demand paging is Constants.XdbLocalSerDesPath which is described here.
It is mandatory to set this parameter that specifies the storage location for demand paging. We recommend that local SSD storage is used for optimal serialization / deserialization performance.
